Sungrow Power Supply Co. Ltd, the leading Chinese inverter company has announced that it has commissioned a new solar farm using Sungrow inverters in California.
The 28.4MW solar farm is on the outskirts of Lancaster in Los Angeles County and has been called the TA Acacia Solar Farm. It is made up of 94 340 Canadian Solar PV solar panel modules and 25 Sungrow inverters – the SG800MX central inverters.
The SG800MX Sungrow inverters have a maximum conversion efficiency of 98.7% and each unit has a maximum input power rating of 900 kilowatts. The project as a whole can produce enough clean energy to power around 6100 homes and avoid 31 500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
“The 28.4MWdc TA Acacia project is a milestone for Sungrow in the US and we are pleased to be part of it,” said Renxian Cao, chairman of Sungrow Power Supply, Co, Ltd.
The solar farm is now owned by Dominion Virginia Power who has signed a 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA) with locally owned utility Pacific Gas and Energy (PG&E). Construction of the TA Acacia Solar Farm created 400 local jobs in the area.
Sungrow inverters are becoming increasingly popular around the world. They only had the first large scale installation in the USA in June last year with the 6MW Ravenbrook Landfill Solar Project. They have now set up headquarters in Fremont, San Francisco Bay Area and have already seen sharp increases in revenue.
The company now believe they have around 8 000MW’s worth of Sungrow inverters installed globally. In 2011 they jumped straight into the top 10 inverter manufacturers rankings at number 5, in 2012 they were the third largest inverter manufacturer in terms of global shipments and this year Sungrow is the second largest inverter manufacturer in the world only behind SMA. Sungrow is the only Chinese company in the top ten.
Sungrow inverters are also becoming increasingly popular here in Australia for residential solar power installations. The high tech company invests heavily in research and development and it shows in the quality of the Sungrow inverters on the market today. Their inverters have high end features, good quality together with a decent price tag – value for money at its best.
