Solar panel giant, REC Solar, has announced that it is extending its product warranty on its solar panels from 10 years to 12 years at no additional cost.

The product warranty focuses on the materials and workmanship of the solar panel itself. The change will be effective immediately and will be limited to rooftop systems up to 500kWs that are installed by a REC Solar Profession – such as Evolution Solar Sunshine Coast.

REC solar panels also have a 25 year linear output guarantee, with minimum 97 percent output during the first year of performance and a maximum 0.7 percent reduction of power output per year from year 2-25.

The solar giant hopes that its confidence in its brand will help commercial customers have increased return on investment (ROI) predictability.

Explaining the warranty decision, Luc Graré, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at REC, says, “By extending its product warranty from ten to 12 years for all registered installations up to 500kW, REC is providing planners for commercial and industrial installations with greater ROI predictability. It also reflects the confidence we have in the reliably high quality of REC solar panels, even after many years of service.”
