The latest results show that Queenslanders have spent $1.45 billion dollars on solar power systems in the last two years. With Queensland well ahead of other states and installation numbers still growing, the sky is the limit!

The Clean Energy Council (CEC) has come out with some figures showing that Queensland has spent the equivalent of $2 million a day on solar energy systems and technology over the last two years with the number of solar systems almost quadrupling in that time. In March 2011 we had almost 73 000 solar systems installed and the CEC says we now have over 282 000.

Electricity bills across the state have risen astronomically over the last few years with another double digit rise to take effect in July this year. Many say that the average household’s electricity costs will go up by $253 a year! The solar surge is not over yet with many set to slash their energy costs with a solar power system this year.

Those who have an application in to Energex or Ergon Energy for the 44c feed-in tariff will need to have their solar systems fully installed by June 30 this year in order to keep the generous feed-in tariff. This means Queensland solar suppliers will be expecting a last minute rush of customers trying not to miss the deadline. Systems installed on this tariff can be a significant investment and those with applications in that have not yet installed would be missing a great opportunity if they don’t enquire about solar soon. It is estimated that these types of systems can generate between $50 000 and $80 000 over their lifetime – better than money in the bank.

One of Evolution Solar Sunshine Coasts’ most popular suburbs for solar power has shown great increases in the number of systems installed. With only 800 installations two years ago, Buderim can now boast over 2350 solar power systems.

“A large number of retirees call Buderim home and older Queenslanders are one of the largest groups leading the move towards solar power over the past couple of years,” Clean Energy Council policy director Russell Marsh said. “Many retirees who are asset-rich but income-poor have turned to solar power to help minimise their living costs – and maximise quality of life.”

For those who are not eligible for the 44c feed-in tariff, a tariff of around 16c is still available. Solar power is still a great option and will save you thousands on rising electricity costs. For many, installing solar power takes away the worry of how they are going to pay future electricity bills and this peace of mind is priceless.

Evolution Solar Sunshine Coast can offer no deposit, interest free terms so enquire about your new solar power system today! In many cases, the savings each quarter can be equivalent to the repayments making electricity basically free after your chosen loan period. Take the first step to clean energy.
