With the Australian dollar dropping to around USD92 cents, analysts’ are saying it will only drop further. The days of our exceptionally strong dollar are over for now. With the close of the world’s biggest solar trade exhibition, our experts are saying how lucky we are as a country. Not only do we have huge solar potential, but we are in a good position in other ways too. While our government policy on clean energy may not be as supportive as other countries, we have a good economy and solar incentives. Our incentives benefit the every-day person, not just big solar farms, and we have the right to consume the power that we produce. May seem simple but other countries do not have that same right. President Obama released ‘The President’s Climate Action Plan’ this week and is pushing more renewables. In his first term as president, Obama doubled the amount of renewable energy and now he wants to double it again before 2020. He has ordered 10 gigawatts of new renewable energy permits to be given on federal land as well as 100 megawatts of solar power to be put on government subsidies housing. They plan to reduce funding on overseas coal-fired stations and support high emission countries. President Obama has been praised for taking a brave and bold step forwards.
