It has been an interesting week in the solar world with new technologies becoming available, solar panels receiving increased safety accolades, solar scammers facing court and warnings for those customers with 44c network agreements not yet installed.

Enphase Energy has come into the Australian solar market this month announcing RFI Solar as their distributor. Their new product is a micro-inverter. This means that each panel is equipped with its own micro-inverter than changes DC power into AC power at the panel level. The advantages of the Enphase system are that it has increased performance, good results in low light, decreased risk of fire and a 25 year limited warranty with 100% uptime. It has some very impressive technology and definitely a product to keep an eye on in the future. (Click here to read the full article).

Some solar scammers on the Gold Coast have faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court this week. The couple are accused of stealing almost $400 000 from families between Redcliffe and the Gold Coast. They took deposits from people for solar panels that were never delivered or installed at all. The Pastor and his wife have been using their controversial church as a front for a cold calling solar power centre. After over 150 official complaints, the couple were finally arrested. They are due to face a committal review on April 8th 2013. (Click here to read the full article).

REC solar panels have been in the news again this week. They have undergone some gruelling Potential Induced Degradation (PID) tests and have been certified as PID resistant. This basically means that the panels were tested for decreases in performance under different voltage and heat conditions. The test included the panels being at negative voltage of 1000 volts, in 60°C temperate, 85% relative humidity over 96 hours. The REC panels showed less than a 2% drop! Just like we have released articles here previously, many solar companies are starting to warn customers who secured the 44c feed-in tariff before July 9 2012 to act now and get their solar power installed. An article released by the Courier Mail said there were 42 000 people who have secured this higher feed-in tariff in Queensland who are yet to get their solar power installed. If action is not taken soon, many are going to lose out on thousands of dollars over the life of their solar system. (Click here to read the full article).

Unfortunately with all this rain, Evolution Solar Sunshine Coast’s installation team at the Beachcomber on the Spit apartments have been slowed down. This reroofing still being completed at the site, there has been a limit to how many panels we have been able to install. Once completed, the project with consist of four 5.5kW solar power systems.
