According to Green Energy Markets, Australia has installed 16 601 solar systems totalling 70.3MW’s in the month of July 2014.

These combined residential and commercial solar systems take Australia’s total solar power systems to 108 000 or 448.8MW’s. As in the past, Queensland is still the biggest installer, installing just over a third of all systems – followed by NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

Solar Trends

Commercial solar energy systems (systems between 10kW’s and 100kW’s) have taken a spike accounting for 19% of all installations done in July this year and 16% of the total solar systems installed this year so far. With a market share usually in the single digits – commercial solar is becoming more and more popular in a place of continually rising power bills. With businesses open mainly during daylight or generation hours it means that all power produced will be used by the company meaning greatly reduced power bills. The Australian market is predominantly residential installations.

Solar Trends by State

In the past quarter, 26% of NSW installations have been from commercial solar systems – Victoria 14%, WA 15% and QLD 8% from commercial systems. South Australia has seen huge increases lately with 34% of installed systems being commercial.
