Solar Battery Storage Trials

Solar Battery Storage Trial Starts in QLD

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk launched Energy Company, Energex’s battery storage trial yesterday as well as inducting 22 new apprentices into the companies EsiTrain facility in Rocklea.

With battery storage set to be the next ‘big thing’ in the energy mix, the Premier said it was important that the next generation of electricians be trained for the future. “New technologies like solar battery storage will dominate the next phase of the solar energy industry, and with it a whole new opportunity for new jobs,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“These new recruits will gain first-hand experience with the latest technology as part of their training here at Rocklea, which only cements Energex’s reputation as producing some of the world’s top electricians.”

The solar battery trial will give Energex real-time data from three battery storage systems including one by Tesla.  Queensland has a goal of 1 million rooftops or 3000MWs of solar capacity by 2020 and battery storage systems is likely to play a big role in achieving this goal. Consumer energy demand is ever changing – having real time data will give an idea as to how consumers are using their electricity and how best to integrate battery storage into the network.

“We have some of the best solar resources in the world and because of that reputation, each of these suppliers has earmarked Queensland as target markets for their products,” said Energy Minister Mark Bailey.

“The data obtained from these trials will assist in developing systems to manage new technologies, including battery systems, and provide cost-effective outcomes for Queenslanders.”

There is no doubt that solar energy storage systems are going to be the way of the future! We have already installed some interesting ones such as our 30kW Hybrid System and look forward to installing many more in the future!
